Spay and neuter program

There is an estimated 6 million street dogs and 3 million cats in Sri Lanka. We would love to save them all, but due to the number it is impossible. The only way to help is to decrease the population.

This stops new puppies being born into a life of misery, mistreatment and hunger.

That's why our main aim is spay&neuter.

But we can't do it without your help.

Ella 2022

We carried our first ever spay and neuter clinic in a mountain area, in a small town called Ella. We paid for 49 castrations, 60 rabies vaccinations and an emergency treatment.

But it is not enough. Our aim is to treat more dogs. The more dogs we treat, the bigger impact we can achieve.

Spay and neuter 2023

2023 was an incredible year for us! We started strong with a three-day spay & neuter clinic in Ella, treating over 100 animals. We also funded the sterilization of another 30 animals in Ahangama. Then, we had the privilege of meeting the wonderful Nayana—an animal lover from Hikkaduwa who was eager to help on a regular basis.

After plenty of brainstorming, we established a permanent spay & neuter program for the cats and dogs of Hikkaduwa. We ended the year on a high note, having treated a total of 412 animals in 2023!

Hikkaduwa 2024

In 2024, we continued building on the success of our Hikkaduwa spay & neuter program. Towards the end of the year, we partnered with the Dziko Project to expand our efforts and reach even more animals. The results were incredible—471 cats and dogs had their lives changed forever! ❤️

Hikkaduwa and Baddegama 2025

In 2025 we successfully continue with our regular program in Hikkaduwa and we also added another area - Baddegama. Baddegama is around 15km inland of Hikkaduwa and the dogs and cats there are forgotten. Baddegama is not a tourist destination, so people do not have the resources to look after the animals there. And that why we came in. As of August 2025 we have spayed/neutered 245 animals.
